The Cosmetology program is designed to meet the qualifications of the West Virginia Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists and is accredited nationally by COE (Council on Occupational Education). Program instruction and career training consists of 1,800 hours regarding hair, skin, and nails. Courses are scheduled once per year, starting in August. Pre-entrance testing begins in January of that year.
This program may be completed in 18-20 months. The beginning phase of the program consists of lecture and technical presentations. Students are transitioned from the classroom to the salon on campus to practice and perfect skills by performing services for clients under the guidance of an experienced, certified Instructor of Cosmetology.
Licensure may be awarded by the State of West Virginia after satisfactorily meeting licensure requirements and obtaining passing scores on exams given by the West Virginia Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists.
